Hockey Skating Development (CanPowerSkate) is an action-packed, high energy instructional power skating program geared to hockey and ringette players that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance. This program will focus on improving skating skills such as crosscuts, forward and backward skating, and stops and starts.

Skaters must have passed CanSkate Stage 3 or higher, be 5 to 9 years old, and have the ability to perform crosscuts and stopping skills to enter the program.

CanPowerSkate is the only nationally regulated power skating program in Canada. It was developed by a team of hockey, figure skating and ringette experts to teach the fundamentals of power skating in a progressive and sequential manner that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations. In addition to course fee, all skaters must pay a $40 annual Skate Canada membership fee (September 1 to August 31).
