Good Skates are critical to your child’s success!

The most important item for a skater is a GOOD pair of skates. No other item is as important. This can not be emphasized enough. Starting right off at the Can Skate level where your child is learning to skate, a good pair of skates makes a VERY significant difference.

SHARPENING

Always have your child’s skates sharpened at Skaters Edge or Cyclone Taylor.

Sizing

A good rule of thumbs is that figure skates are about 1.5 sizes lower than regular shoes. Here is a sizing chart for you to review.

TYPE & APPROXIMATE COST

CanSkate and Learn to Skaters, may purchase a *Jackson “Excel” or “Mystique” skate at a cost of approximately $145-170.

Skaters who are working on entry level jumps up to a loop jump, may purchase a *Jackson “Artiste” Skate. Cost $230.

Skaters working on an axel to double loop may look to purchase a *Jackson Freestyle with Aspire Blade at $389.00 or the *Jackson “Debut” with separate purchasable blade, boot alone is $449.00, blades range in price.

Skaters landing the entry double jumps may consider purchasing skate blades separately rather than the blade that comes automatically with the skate. Modern technology in terms of the blades rocker and weight distribution is significantly more accurate.

*We’re using Jackson as our example skate brand, but there are other reputable products on the market.
