Adult Skating

The Whistler Skating Club is working to offer programming that meets the diverse needs of the adults in our community. Our categories include: Adult Skills Development, Adult CanSkate “Learn to Skate”, and for those who enjoy skating in a team environment and participating in competitions, we have an adult synchronized skating team


Adult SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Our Adult program offers a fun environment to those wishing to keep building their skating skills. Group classes will focus on SETS - Steps, Edges, Transitions and Sequences. Those returning to the sport after time away can learn and finetune their skating skills in this group program, and rediscover their love for skating! Individual practice with group lessons and coach feedback will be offered to assist learning and progression.

Commencing Sept 19, Adult Learn to Skate, sessions will take place on Tuesday 4:15-5pm & Thursday 5:00-5:45pm. Participate in one or both!

Adult Skills and Adult Synchro Skills will take place on every Thursday 5:45-6:45pm.

Good figure skates are required for all sessions except Adult Learn To Skate.

Synchronized Skating Team ~ Whistler Mountain Edges

Fitness, fun and friendships while building your skating and synchro skills within a recreational environment.  Learn, practice and build on the fundamental skills, basic manoeuvres, formations and transitions of synchronized skating. Our program offers skaters (age 15+ with solid skating experience) the opportunity to work as a team, with a skilled coach, for performance and fun. 

We are a recreational team of skaters who practice 2 hours a week on the ice. We encourage our skaters to attend public skating sessions to continue developing their skating skills.

What’s Included:

  • Team program and choreography by professional synchro coach

  • Two training days: Thursday (5:45-6:45 pm) and Friday (6:00-8:00 am) to learn routine

  • Weekly practices for 15 weeks from September 14 to December 21, led by Skate Canada club coach

  • Weekly practices to include both skills development and team program practice

Adult Learn to skate ~ Canskate

CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship Learn to Skate program. Conducted in a fun, friendly environment focusing on continuous movement, the CanSkate program showcases a comprehensive series of balance, control and agility skills, using a nationally-tested and proven curriculum and instructed by professionally trained and certified coaches. CanSkate supports skater success in developing strong basic skills on the ice, and is the foundation for all ice sports including figure skating, hockey, speed skating and ringette.
